After the consensus with our party leadership and examining each aspect of brutal
murder of Ramsha Wassan, we demand formulation of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for impartial probe and justice, said parliamentary secretary human rights Lal Chand Malhi on Tuesday.
He addressed a press conference here at national press club accompanied by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentarians in Sindh Saima Nadeem, Saif Ullah and others.
The 13 year-ol
d innocent Ramsha was killed in Khairpur earlier in this month. “After the
murder, I along with some other local leaders visited Ramsha’s home. We came to know through her mother and some pieces of evidence
that Ramsha was kidnapped by Zulfiqar Wassan before she was
murdered”, he explained.
He said
that she was recovered by local ‘Jirga’ after five days of kidnapping. “On the third day of her arrival back home, some unknown persons entered Ramsha’s home and killed her brutally by opening fire in front of her parents”, he alleged.
Would not become part of dirty politics in Sindh in the name of charter of democracy
According to Chand Malhi, the kidnapper Zulfiqar Wassan is the prime suspect in the
murder. It is pertinent to note
that the Sindh police has registered a case against four people in an honour killing case.
The parliamentary secretary further alleged
that Zulfiqar is running a very notorious gang in the area and not a single institution dared to hold him accountable. “As many as 19 FIRs for
murders have been lodged against Zulifqar while no action has been taken so for”, he regretted adding
that all influential politicians were backing him.
The PTI leaders said
that this was not an honour killing. Instead, they said, it was purely an unforgivable violation of human rights. They revealed
that “actually Ramsha wished to marry by her own choice. Wasn’t this option her legal, constitutional, Islamic right?” they questioned.
While lashing out at Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) governing in Sindh, PTI leaders said
that it was very regretful
that not a single statement was issued on behalf of the government over this overwhelming issue. “After 10 days, when a hype occurred in media and severe criticism followed over their party leadership, CM Murad Ali has finally dared to speak on the issue”, they said adding
that it was not more than ‘crocodile tears’.
The PTI leaders further said
that this was not the first of its kind as such incidents of human rights violations have become part a routinely matter. While citing Irshad Ranjhani case in Karachi, the leaders said
that it showed deplorable state for human rights in Sindh.
Karachi Police has registered a case against the
city president of the nationalist Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST) party Rajhani alleged for
murdering Abdul Raheem Shah of PML-N. The PTI leader said
that Ranjhani was innocent and allegedly portrayed as a street criminal under a FIR. “The influenti
al mafia is using police as a tool to register cases whenever some personal grudges emerge against someone”, they alleged. They concluded with a warning message, “Remember
that neither Prime Minister Imran Khan nor his party would take part in your dirty politics in the province in the name of charter of democracy. Ultimately, you have to be held accountable for corruption and for keeping the poor masses deprived for the past 30 years’.
