ISLAMABAD: Nominated chief justice of P
akistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday observ

“We are independent and we decide the case
s with our conscience,” he said while hearing an appeal filed by supermodel Ayyan Ali against the Interior Ministry.
The judge remark
ed that the judiciary decided case
s without being pressurised by other institutions. He further said that the judiciary had nothing to do with anyone’s statement.
In an interview, the former military ruler said that the judiciary should work for the administration of justice, but courts worked under pressure behind the scene and then gave decisions. The significant remarks of the upcoming CJP came after former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf claim
ed that the recently retired chief of army staff (COAS) General (r) Raheel Sharif helped him leave the country by pressurising the court, which was hearing a high-treason case filed by the federal government. However, rulin
g out that the courts worked under pressure, the upcoming CJP said, “Wh
atever decision was made, it wa
s without any iota of pressure, and we should not make an opinion on such statements.”
