Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the people who make money and palaces while in politics, have no future as history wipes such people out. Status and power must be for well-being of the nation and country. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan came into power for prosperity and progress of the country. Culture of Safarish (intercession) and corruption will be rooted out and nobody can hinder the way of the hardworking and honest people, while 100 per cent merit and transparency will be ensured in education sector.
The Governor Punjab was addressing the 10th Convocation of University of Lahore (UoL) here on Monday. Begum Parveen Sarwar, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences (UHS) Prof. Javed Akram, Board of Governors Chairman Owais Rauf, Dr. Mujahid Kamran, Farzana Rauf, M. A. Rauf and others were also present on this occasion.
Ch Sarwar said that the incumbent government’s hallmark is the merit only and vice chancellors of all the universities are being appointed as per merit because safarish culture has already inflicted irreparable damages to Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision is to see Pakistani students excelling at global level as educated and healthy societies attain development, he said and added that the government is striving to ensure provision of inexpensive quality education in the country.
He said that youth are the asset of Pakistan and promise of their employment will be materialized because after attaining the status and power, one’s responsibilities to the nation and country increases manifolds. Destruction is the ultimate fate of the people in politics or any other field, who focus to make money or construct their palaces only instead of serving the humanity, while those serve the public, remain alive in history.
The Governor Punjab said, “By grace of Allah Almighty, Pakistanis all over the world are earning respect for their country. Pakistani youth, first time, have created a new record in history by winning Kabaddi World Cup in Lahore, and it doubles the joy whenever Pakistan faces India in any sports. There is no doubt in it that unity and hard work in any field guarantee one’s success.”
At the convocation, Punjab Governor also gave away medals to position-holders, while a total of 1922 graduates were presented degrees and medals.
