LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of very hot and dry weather ahead all over the country, including the provincial capital during current week.
According to a PMD spokesperson, low elevation agricultural plains of Punjab will be the centre of heat where day temperatures will cross over 45°C and central parts will touch a critical level of 50°C.
The temperatures in mountainous areas of Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir will also rise by 4-5°C above average, resulting in rapid melting of snow and glaciers, he added.
Keeping in view the intense heat and dry weather, the public should take precautionary measures against heatstroke and dehydration as advised by health authorities, the spokesperson said.
